Homeless Veterans Stand Down Event

A Stand Down for Veterans in Buncombe and the surrounding counties is scheduled for 9 a.m. – 12 p.m., Sept. 9, in the Stephens Lee Recreation Center, 30 George Washington Carver Ave., Asheville, NC, 28801. Veterans are urged to bring a VA ID card or their DD214, if they are able.

A Veteran stand down provides a variety of information, services, and personal items to Veterans in need. The Asheville Stand Down will offer haircuts, military surplus gear, representatives from the Division of Workforce Solutions NC Works Career Centers, Veterans Benefit Administration, local education services, legal services, housing support, medical and mental health services, Veterans Service Officers, support services for Veteran families, food and fellowship.
